A 16-year-old boy in Bago City, Negros Occidental sustained injuries in different parts of his body when another minor stabbed him when tension erupted between the two outside a school in Barangay Ma-ao.
Police said the two did not know each other.
Investigation showed that the victim was waiting for a ride home when he and the suspect locked gazes, which led to a fight.
It was reportedly the victim who punched the suspect first until the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim in the neck, chest, and other parts of the body.
“While waiting sa tricycle kasi uuwi na siya, nagkatinginan sila ng other minor. Nagtanungan bakit masakit siyang tumingin. Doon na ang start ng mag-away,” said Lt. Col. James Latayon, chief of the Bago City Police Station.
A man intervened, eventually, and broke the fight up.
“Sabi ko, itapon mo na iyang kutsilyo. Tinapon niya at tumakbo sa taas,” the man, Romy Popa, said.
Authorities said the suspect used to go to the school near the place of the incident but he reportedly figured into trouble several times there, which prompted his parents to move him to another school.
He is made to undergo intervention at a reformation center in the city.
The families of the two boys declined to issue a statement.
