At least six students from Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) who were undergoing on-the-job training at Central Mindanao University (CMU) in Bukidnon were injured after they fell from the truck they were riding.

The incident happened in Barangay Dologon, Maramag, Bukidnon at past 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.

Based on investigation, around 55 DOrSU students reportedly flagged down an Elf truck to hitch a ride back to their boarding house at CMU.

However, the lock of the truck’s side railing allegedly came loose, which caused the students to fall.

“Pag sakay nila, 55 sila kabuok sa likod while going didto sa gate sa CMU. Allegedly, kini side railing sa Isuzu Elf na-tang-tang ang lock og didto nahulog ang unom ka mga estudyante,” Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) Spokesperson, Major Joann Navarro, said.

The students were brought immediately to a hospital.

One of them was in critical condition due to severe injuries. Upon the request of the DOrSU president, the student was referred to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) in Davao City.

Meanwhile, three other students remain in the hospital, as of this writing, and are in stable condition.

Authorities said the parents of the students have decided not to file a complaint.

“Sa pagkakaron, aduna nay amicable settlement ang between family sa estudyante and driver,” Navarro added.

In a Facebook post, the university said it continues to monitor the condition of the students closely to ensure that their medical and other immediate needs are addressed.

“The University remains in close coordination with the affected students, their families, and the concerned medical institutions. We are deeply grateful for the prayers, support, and expressions of concern extended to them. We remain hopeful for the continued improvement and full recovery of all those injured,” the university said.
