A former village chairman who was serving as a barangay councilor was shot dead by two motorcycle-riding gunmen in Echague, Isabela, police said.
The 66-year-old victim, a barangay councilor of Barangay Malibago and former village chairman, was at his farm when the attackers opened fire.
The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the head and body and died in the attack.
As of posting, police have yet to determine the motive behind the killing. A hot pursuit operation is underway to identify and arrest the suspects. GMA Regional TV One North Central Luzon is seeking comment from the victim's family.
