President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. led the distribution of more than P3.4 billion worth of government assistance to the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) ahead of the parliamentary and Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.

The distribution was held during the National Government-Bangsamoro Government Convergence Program at Camp Siongco, Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte.

Of the total amount, around P2.9 billion came from the Bangsamoro Government while P433 million was provided by the national government.

The assistance aims to support various programs and services, including disaster response, goods, livelihood assistance for disadvantaged workers, tourism park development, resettlement housing units for former combatants, emergency aid, scholarship programs, and support for local government development projects, among others.

“As we gather here today, we reaffirm partnership between the national government and the Bangsamoro government. It is one anchored one mutual trust, shared responsibility, and a firmed commitment to our people. Together the autonomous region in Muslim Mindanao and the national government of the republic of the Philippines, we are advancing a shared vision for a peaceful, prosperous, and inclusive Philippines guided by the belief, the strength of our nation rest in the well-being and dignity of every Filipino,” Marcos said.

Bangsamoro Government Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua said that the Bangsamoro government remains committed to prioritizing public service and the welfare of the Bangsamoro people.

"SA BARMM government, we prioritize public service, we prioritize our people. SA BARMM Government, inuuna natin ang serbisyo publiko, at uunahin natin ang kapakanan ng bawat Bangsamoro,” Macacua said.

The early distribution of the funds was deemed better ahead of the upcoming parliamentary and barangay elections as there are statutory restrictions on the release of certain forms of assistance during the said period.

Marcos said the first BARMM elections will proceed as scheduled.

“The first Bangsamoro Parliamentary elections was rescheduled to the second Monday of September 2026, we are determined we will push through in the second Monday in the coming September and finally achieve our dream, our goal, being able to say that we have a duly elected parliament in Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao,” Marcos said.
