A Grade 11 student of a school in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental was caught with suspected marijuana placed inside the bag.

The suspected marijuana was placed inside three packets.

The school’s security guard found the items as he was inspecting the belongings of students going in for afternoon classes on July 22, 2023.

Capt. Liberty Indiape, spokesperson of the Bacolod City Police Office, said the items seized were secured immediately.

“Immediately, nirespondehan natin iyon at sinecure. Nakita natin at nag-conduct tayo ng inventory at nakuha ang suspected marijuana sa estudyante,” she said.

The suspected marijuana will be subjected to laboratory examination.

The police said they have already submitted a report to the Department of Education (DepEd)’s division in Bacolod City.

Investigation is ongoing to determine how the suspected marijuana ended up in the hands of the student.

“Accordingly, sa ngayon, patuloy na tinutukoy kung paano nakapasok ang illegal drugs at nabitbit ng estudyante,” Indiape said.

As of this writing, the school and DepEd have not released a statement.

The student has been placed under the custody of the Social Development Center pending results of the laboratory exam on the suspected marijuana.
