Authorities are pursuing a man who allegedly killed a member of the LGBTQ community in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.

Personnel of the Civil Security Unit of the Bukidnon Provincial Capitol found the victim lifeless at a vacant lot in Barangay Poblacion at past 7 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2026.

The victim was found the head drenched in blood and with shorts pulled down.

Based on investigation, the victim was seen last with a man near the Bukidnon Provincial Capitol at around 2 a.m. on that day.

“Base sa witness, iyang nakita ang iyang amigo nga gi-approach sa maong biktima nga nagkasinabot sila. Nihawa sila sa lugar kung asa sila nagtambay katong alleged nga suspek ug ni adto sila sa area didto dapit sa Purok 1,” Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) Spokeseperson, Major Joann Navarro, said.

About an hour later, the suspect allegedly returned to the area where they had been staying and reportedly confessed to a friend that he had killed the victim.

The suspect then fled.

The suspect's friend reported the incident immediately to personnel of the Civil Security Unit (CSU), prompting authorities to search for the victim.

“Pagkakita sa maong patay’ng lawas, adunay samad sa ulo nga bahin and allegedly possible gibundakan ug bug-at nga butang… posibilidad bato,” Navarro added.

Police said they have already identified the suspect, who is now being pursued by operatives.

In a social media post, Malaybalay City Councilor Jason Chad Ayala offered a P30,000 reward for information that can lead to the suspect's location and arrest.
