Face-to-face classes at Dumangas National High School in Iloilo was suspended on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, due to a security threat aimed at the School Principal, Assistant School Principal, and a teacher.

It is alleged that a teacher posted the threats online but, as of this writing, authorities are verifying whether or not the teacher’s account got hacked.

The Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division of Iloilo has called the teacher and officials of the school to a meeting.

Based on initial investigation by the Dumangas Police, two teachers in the school figured in a minor disagreement before the threats surfaced.

The school decided to send students home for safety purposes.

This incident is the latest of successive incidents of threats made against schools, teachers, and students across the country since the deadly shooting at a school in Tacloban City in June 2026. 

Most of the threats have been made online, particularly on social media - some of which were found to have been made by students who wanted classes to be cancelled. 

But authorities have said that security threats are always taken seriously.
