Heavy rains triggered flooding and a landslide in parts of Nueva Ecija, disrupting traffic, damaging farmland, and prompting authorities to close temporarily a detour road.

A landslide occurred along the Nueva Ecija-Aurora Road in Barangay Calaanan, Bongabon. The incident did not disrupt traffic after personnel from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) quickly cleared the affected area.

Floodwaters also reached a bridge in Barangay San Roque, Bongabon, submerging nearby corn fields. Residents moved their carabaos to safer areas as floodwaters continued to rise.

In Laur, authorities temporarily closed the detour road at the bridge construction site in Barangay Sagana to allow water to flow freely through the creek. Officials said water had started to accumulate in the waterway, raising the risk of flooding in nearby communities.

Authorities also said the strong current had begun eroding the detour road, posing a danger to motorists.

Meanwhile, flooding slowed traffic along the Maharlika Highway at the boundary of Cabanatuan City and Talavera.

DPWH personnel worked overnight to clear drainage canals and improve water flow in an effort to reduce flooding in the area.
