Authorities have arrested a 19-year-old man accused of killing a member of the LGBTQIA+ community in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.
The suspect was arrested after almost 10 days of hiding. The victim was killed on July 27, 2026.
Authorities said police officers were patrolling Barangay Poblacion in Kalilangan town shortly after midnight on August 6, 2026 when they spotted a man allegedly violating the local curfew.
When they stopped the man, the latter allegedly pulled out a knife and attempted to stab the police officer. Fortunately, the cop was not injured.
The man was brought to the police station and authorities found out later that he was the one they were looking for in connection with the killing of the LGBTQIA+ member in Malaybalay City.
The suspect has yet to issue a statement, as of this writing.
He is facing charges for murder, direct assault, and illegal possession of a deadly weapon.
