The Department of Education (DepEd) Cagayan de Oro City Division announced that classes in the city have returned to normal following a series of online shooting threats in recent days.

According to the head of the Schools Division Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM), authorities ensured the safety of every student before allowing them to return to their classrooms.

“Nabantayan sa atong mga pulis based sa ilang investigation nga dili man daw tinuod pero mas maayo mana maniguro sab ta,” CDO City Schools Division DRRM Head, Ryan Blanco, said.

They also warned students that those who are identified as posting similar online threats could face disciplinary action under DepEd Department Order No. 006.

Meanwhile, the Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) has ordered increased police visibility in schools, particularly during arrival and dismissal of students.

PRO-10 aims to ensure a swift response in the event of a genuine security threat to schools.

"In all their actions kailangan maintain ang coordination sa school officials kasi magkakaiba naman yung environment sa schools meron tayong schools dito sa highly urbanized city merong mga schools tayo sa medyo mga far flung barangays,” PRO-10 Director, Brigadier General Christopher Abrahano, said.
