A 25-year-old man in Mandaue City, Cebu has apologized to the mayor after vandalizing several areas in the city with his trademark graffiti, “seek.”

The suspect was identified as alias “Roger.”

Recently, the suspect, accompanied by police officers, appeared before Mayor Jonkie Ouano to apologize.

He said he and his friends vandalized walls in the city reportedly around 10 years ago.

He said he was influenced by a friend who used to vandalize walls, which eventually encouraged him to start writing and doing graffiti himself.

He also explained the meaning behind his signature, “Seek.”

“Sauna kay naa ko kaila mo vandal adto naagni nila, na encourage ko mosuwat suwat. Mo graff pod ko... graffiti. Giangkon nako… seek pod kay naa koy i-seek mo-seek ko og butang,” the suspect said.

The said he has since stopped painting on walls.

“Giangkon nako, gi-face nako ang consequence…hugaw man siya tan-awon gyud siya,” he said.

As part of his punishment, the city government ordered him to repaint and cover up the areas he had vandalized.

Roger carried out the task, showing what appeared to be a sincere effort to make amends and apologize for his actions.

It can be recalled that Mandaue launched an intensified campaign against vandalism to help maintain cleanliness and order in the city.

Ouano also offered a reward from his personal funds to anyone who could provide information about those who vandalize.
