Two women and a child sustained injuries after they were hacked using a bolo in separate incidents in Cebu City.

In Barangay Paril, a 13-year-old boy and his mother sustained were hacked while asleep in their house evening on August 16, 2026.

The 22-year-old suspect is the man the boy’s father reportedly threw out of a dance in the barangay that night.

Police said the suspect was already throwing a fit at the dance and the boy’s father approached him to ask what was going on.

But the suspect reportedly got angry and turned his attention, instead, on the boy’s father.

Because of his behavior, he was made to leave the dance.

Later, however, the suspect went to the victims’ house and used a bolo allegedly to hack the boy and his mother.

The child sustained injuries in the face while his mother sustained injuries in her shoulder and arm.

Both are receiving treatment in the hospital, as of this writing.

The police arrested the suspect fast and seized from him the bolo he allegedly used in the crime.

Still, the suspect denied the allegation vehemently.

“Mahug nga personal nga kasuko, kay katong suspek man gud nagmaoy sulod sa diskohan, karon nakasumbag sya sa diskohan, naka-create siya og samok, mao to gipagawas siya sa nagdala didto. Kining lalaki, which is maoy husband ug amahan sa mga biktima, gipangutana siya nga kinsay kontra nimo. Nasuko siya nga gipangutana. Mao na hinuon nabalingan sa iyahang kasuko,” said Police Capt. Leonyl Iren, chief of the police station that responded to the incident.

The suspect is facing charges for frustrated murder.

Meanwhile, in Barangay Talamban, a woman landed in the hospital after she was hacked by her live-in partner.

Police said the suspect, 44, was drunk when he hacked the victim, 41, using a bolo midday on August 14.

The woman sustained injuries at the back of her head and shoulder.

Investigation showed that the suspect reportedly wanted to get back with the woman but the victim refused.

The two have six children.

The suspect is also facing frustrated murder charges. He sought forgiveness for what he did.

“Pasayloa lang ko ninyo mga anak kay unsaon naman nabuhat naman ni nako,” he said.

Lt. Col. Rudolph Franc Oriol, Deputy Director for Administration of the Cebu City Police Office, said the suspect had just gone out of prison for a case the victim filed against him for violence against women and children.

“Ang suspek nato karon nga bana, actually, bag-o ra ni siya nakagawas sa prisohan gumikan kay napriso pud ni kaniadto sa usa ka VAWC nga gi-file ani iyang asawang biktima,” Oriol said.
