A ferry boat submerged while docked at the Parola wharf in Iloilo City at around 3 a.m. of November 14, 2023.
According to the Philippine Coast Guard Iloilo, MV Margaux 1’s mooring ropes loosened on a high tide in the previous night which caused the incident.
Coast Guard Iloilo said that 40 percent of the sea craft is submerged in seawaters.
A righting procedure was undertaken at 4 p.m. of the same day with the use of floaters and swift pumping-out of seawater.
The vessel will undergo a sea trial before it can resume its regular voyage.
