Following a tip from concerned citizens, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Laguna, in collaboration with the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), has uncovered an alleged makeshift military camp at a subdivision in Barangay Langkiwa, Biñan City on November 18, 2023.
Romulo Dimaya Jr., Provincial Officer of CIDG-Laguna.
The CIDG conducted a four-month surveillance before raiding the site.
During the operation, authorities discovered no fewer than 30 different types of firearms and thousands of rounds of unregistered ammunition.
Authorities also seized uniforms allegedly used by the man operating the facility to pose as a member of the military.
According to CIDG, the man that ran the facility allegedly claimed to be a deputized law enforcer of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), a statement refuted by authorities.
The man arrested is facing charges for violating the Firearms and Ammunition Act and usurpation of authority. Two individuals he allegedly recruited were also arrested.
GMA Regional TV Balitang Southern Tagalog is trying to get a statement from the suspect.
