A 20-year-old student died after a part of a concrete wall collapsed and hit her when a passenger bus slammed into the wall at a terminal in Balanga City, Bataan on November 20, 2023. 

The student was identified as Jen Orviel Titulo.

Footage of the incident, taken by a concerned citizen, shows the bus slamming into the terminal wall with such force that a portion of the concrete structure collapsed and fell on Titulo who was also waiting for a ride.

"Dahil sa aksidente, napinsala rin ang concrete wall na dumagan sa estudyante," said PCapt. Carlito Buco Jr., Chief PIO of Bataan PPO.

Titulo’s mother, Jennifer Dinglasa, recounted, "Noong nakita ko ‘yung naka-handusay na, hinawi ko ang buhok. Nakita ko ang mukha ng anak ko. Anak ko ‘yan, anak ko ‘yan. Palapitin niyo ako."

The bus dispatcher also suffered injuries, reportedly falling due to the impact of the collision. 

Preliminary investigation showed that the bus driver pressed the accelerator pedal, causing the vehicle to lurch forward and hit the wall. 

"Ang sabi niya, noong sinabihan siya ng dispatcher kasi turn na niya para magsakay ng pasahero, pag-start ng makina, umarangkada agad ito," Buco said.

The bus driver is placed under the custody of the Balanga City Police with the student’s family bent on filing charges against him. 

The mall where the terminal is located has not issued a statement as of this writing.
