A lightning bolt killed two persons in two locations.

The lightning strike first hit a boat off the north coastal area in Lagonoy, Camarines Sur on November 29, 2023 which resulted in the death of a fisherman from Barangay Mapid.

The victim was reportedly an assistant to the “timonel” (helmsman).

The body of the victim was secured to the boat with the help of other boatmen out at sea, while waiting for the weather to improve.

Personnel of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, together with local fishermen, helped retrieve the body.

The victim was taken back to Mapid, Lagonoy.

Simultaneously, in Tinambac, Camarines Sur, another man out at sea was hit by the lightning strike at around 4 a.m.

The 30-year-old man was with his father who was unscathed reportedly.

In response to these incidents, local authorities issued reminders for residents and fishermen to exercise caution during adverse weather conditions.
