Around 35,000 scouts participated in the 18th National Scouts Jamboree in Passi City, Iloilo set from December 11, 2023 to December 17, 2023.
President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. led the grand opening ceremonies at Camp Pintados de Passi on December 11, 2023.
During the event, the President’s investiture and installation as the new Chief Boy Scout of the Philippines was administered by Dale Corvera, Boy Scouts of the Philippines national president.
The investiture is in accordance with Republic Act No. 7278, amending Commonwealth Act No. 111, which states that the President of the Philippines shall be the Chief Scout of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines.
“Each of you here is called upon to help shape the future and help create a better and more sustainable world. To our beloved scouts, remember that you are here also to have adventure, but learn also about being positive agents of change,” President Marcos, Jr. said.
Lenar, a scout, said he is excited to take part in various activities on leadership and civic-mindedness.
“Tutulong po ako sa komunidad…magpapakabait po ako. Salamat President dahil nakapunta ka dito,” Lenar said.
As of this writing, the scouts are set for a cleanup activity at Agdahon Farm School and at Aglalana Waste Segregation Facility.
