The Naga City Prosecutor's Office has dismissed the case of robbery with homicide filed against the suspect in the killing of 17-year-old Roselle Bandojo in July 2023.
Prosecutors downgraded the charges to theft from robbery with homicide due to insufficient evidence to support the more serious charge.
This decision has left Roselle Bandojo's family and the task force handling the case disappointed.
"Garo nanruluya su laman-laman ko ta arog ngani kato si naging desisyon na dae ko man inaasahan na arog kaito," Juvy Bandojo, the mother of the victim, said.
Melvin Ramon Buenafe, Head of the Task Force, also expressed their disappointment but emphasized their respect for the prosecutor's decision.
"Syempre namumundo kita na arog kaito ang naging desisyon, pero nirerespeto ta po ang desisyon kan piskalya and nagtatao man nin leksyon satuya," Melvin Ramon Buenafe, Head, Taskforce Bandojo, said.
As of this writing, the family and the task force are considering two options – filing a motion for reconsideration and elevating the case to the Department of Justice (DOJ).
"Doon ilalatag naming isa-isa yung mga punto na hindi masyadong na-appreciate ng panel of prosecutors we will lay our cards ito yung ebidensiya namin," AGT Robert Joey Ajero, Executive Officer for Operations at NBI Naga City, said.
