A Grade 7 student of Camarines Sur National High School was apprehended with a significant amount of suspected marijuana leaves, as reported by a fellow student who brought the matter to the attention of the school's security officer.
This incident marks the second occurrence this month where a student has been found in possession of illegal drugs within the school premises.
On December 6, 2023, two students from Camarines Sur National High School Liboton Campus were caught with a sachet of suspected marijuana leaves.
The increased vigilance of school authorities, prompted by the earlier incident, played a crucial role in detecting this latest case.
"Actually, iyo kaya ngani since then naging kaming mas mapagmatyag nang masyado kaya medyo nadidikit-dikitan ming makua yan. Ako po maski makulog sa boot na akuon, pwedeng nakalaog na talaga sa eskwelahan," Sulpicio Alferez III, Ph.D., Principal IV at Camarines Sur National High School, says.
In response to these incidents, the school is intensifying its cooperation with students and enhancing inspections of their belongings upon entry.
The student is currently under the care of the Camarines Sur Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWD).
"Ma-undergo din po siya nin counselling tapos kung ano po ang advice ng court, kaya lang pala siya ay 13-years-old pa lang siya so wala pa siyang criminal liability we are on an intervention program," Evangeline Manalo, Social Welfare Officer III at Naga CSWDO, says.
The school continues to remind parents of their students to be vigilant and aware of their children's activities to prevent similar incidents in the future.
