A fire that broke out in Purok 6, Barangay Calicanto, Batangas City morning on December 13, 2023 razed three houses and injured two elderly individuals.

The fire originated from the residence of the Camacho family, and one possible cause being considered is overloading in electrical sockets.

Lea Camacho, a resident, mentioned hearing a loud noise outside their home.

"'Yung kanilang wires, there's something wrong with it. Romie Tungpalan, City Fire Marshal, said.

The houses affected were made of light materials, which made it easy for the fire to spread fast.

Estimated damage to property is P300,000.

FCInsp. Romie Tungpalan, City Fire Marshal, said the families affected can return to the area once clearing operations are completed. On December 14, 2023, barangay personnel cleared the alley of debris.

The families affected are staying temporarily with relatives.

Authorities advise residents not to overload electrical outlets and to inspect household appliances and equipment regularly to prevent fire incidents.
