Fire broke out in two warehouses in Guiguinto, Bulacan, with flames spreading rapidly due to the highly combustible materials used in the manufacturing of plastic products.
It took over six hours for 17 fire trucks to extinguish the fire.
One person died in the incident, and another sustained injuries. Both victims were identified as stay-in employees of the warehouses.
"May binalikan siya, bumalik siya sa kwarto nila para kunin ‘yung bag. Siguro sweldo ata iyon as per dun sa kasama niya. Sweldo ata yun tapos cellphone niya, tapos binalikan niya. Ayun hindi na po siya nakalabas," Joselito Sunga, Deputy Fire Marshal of the Guiguinto BFP, says.
The fire caused an estimated P160 million in damages, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
As of this writing, authorities are investigating the cause.
