Tropical storm “Kabayan” weakens into a tropical depression after it made landfall over Barangay Concepcion, Manay town, Province of Davao Oriental at 9:30 a.m. on December 18, 2023.

Maximum sustained winds went down to 55 kms/hour from 65 kms/hour near the center, with gustiness of up to 90 kms/hour.

As of 10 a.m., the center of TD Kabayan was estimated in the vicinity of Caraga town in Davao Oriental.

The rains dumped by #KabayanPH triggered flooding in Sitio Hagimit, Barangay Central, Manay, Davao Oriental.

The Local Government Unit of Cateel ordered a preemptive evacuation after water level in Aragon dam reached 20 meters high at around 10 a.m. on December 18, 2023.

Earlier, all vessels and watercraft plying within the area of responsibility were suspended until further notice because of a gale warning hoisted over the eastern seaboard of the Philippines.

The Provinces of Misamis Oriental and Misamis Occidental have also suspended the voyage of all vessels and watercraft until further notice because of the tropical cyclone.
