Authorities confiscated nearly P500,000 worth of illegally cut forest products in Caraga region.
According to the Police Regional Operations Division-13, the separate anti-illegal logging drive from December 11, 2023 to December 16, 2023, also led to the arrest of three individuals in Agusan del Norte and two others in Agusan del Sur.
Police said two more suspects have evaded arrest in Surigao del Sur.
The suspects will face charges for violation of the Forestry Reform Code of the Philippines (PD 705).
“I urge the public to be vigilant and help us protect our environment and natural resources by reporting any illegal logging activities in their localities. With our unified efforts, we can curb these illicit activities and put the violators behind bars,” Police Regional Office-Caraga (PRO-13) Director, Brigadier General Kirby John Kraft, said.
