A barangay councilman was shot dead by riding-in-tandem gunmen in Cotabato City on Christmas Day.
The victim was identified as Datu Macmod Lauban, kagawad of Barangay Bagua 1.
Police said the victim and his child were sitting at a waiting shed when the assailants appeared and shot him. Lauban sustained two gunshot wounds in his stomach.
“Bigla pong may dumating na armadong kalalakihan, pinagbabaril ang biktima. Nakabalot yung mukha. Covered siya ng mask, mata lang yung nakalabas and naka-sombrero parehas,” Cotabato City Police Office (CCPO) Director, Colonel Querubin Manalang Jr., said.
The CCPO has already formed a special investigation task group (SITG) to expedite the probe.
“Dito sa pag-create namin ng SITG, lahat po ng anggulo tinitingnan namin. Posibleng may kinalaman sa trabaho niya bilang kagawad or pwede rin siyang personal,” Querubin added.
