Some 263 families were displaced in the fire that hit Calle Basa in Barangay Tugbungan, Zamboanga City on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, based on latest assessment by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).
Authorities also said three individuals were injured during the incident.
The fire broke out at around 11:51 a.m. and was declared fire out at 3:56 p.m. Investigators said the fire reached third alarm after it spread quickly as most of the houses were made of light materials.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the damage caused by the fire reached P1.5 million.
CSWDO personnel distributed food and relief assistance to the fire victims who are taking shelter temporarily at the evacuation center.
The BFP is still investigating the cause of the fire.
