A man in Cebu was arrested for allegedly wielding a knife inside a modern jeepney at around 10 a.m. on December 28, 2023.
According to jeepney driver Isidro de la Cruz, the vehicle was plying the Punta Engaño (Lapu-Lapu City) to Parkmall (Mandaue City) route when a male passenger brought out a knife which stirred a commotion among scared passengers.
The incident happened while the modern jeep was at the Marcelo Fernan bridge (second bridge) on the Mandaue City side.
Later on, the man was identified as Bobby Agusto, 46 years old, a resident of Barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City.
Isidro said the man just held the knife, but did not brandish it at the passengers.
When he asked Agusto what the knife was for, the latter answered reportedly that he wants to jump off the bridge.
The driver said Agusto ordered the passengers to just stay put, and that nobody was hurt in the incident.
There were 10 passengers onboard the jeep when the incident happened.
The Mandaue City Police arrested Agusto.
