Illegal fireworks worth more than P1 million were seized in the CALABARZON region.

Brigadier General Paul Kenneth Lucas, director of the Police Regional Office 4A, led the confiscation and destruction of the fireworks.

The crackdown targeted manufacturing sites and retail establishments selling prohibited items like kwitis, bawang, whistle bombs, sawa, and improvised canons or boga.

Those apprehended for involvement in these illegal activities now face charges under Republic Act 7183, an act regulating the sale, manufacture, distribution, and use of firecrackers and pyrotechnics.

Expressing gratitude to the public for their cooperation and information-sharing, Lucas underscored the importance of continued collaboration.

"To all our community, we need your cooperation to cease this illegal firecracker sale and distribution. You can help us by not patronizing illegal firecrackers and report to the nearest police station if there’s any illegal vendor or establishment selling illegal firecrackers," he said.
