“No matter where we are from, and what language we speak, we are one.”
GMA Regional TV has been honored as Best TV Station at PAGDASIG 2025: Communication Students’ Choice Awards, organized by the Bachelor of Arts in Communication program of Leyte Normal University, in partnership with ADF College and UP Tacloban College, on May 7, 2025.
GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak bagged the Best TV News Program, Best News Anchor for Cecille Quibod-Castro and Alan Domingo in the Female and Male categories, respectively; Best TV Reporter for Lou-Anne Mae Rondina and Nikko Sereno in the Female and Male categories, respectively.
The honors have underscored further GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak's dedication to telling stories that matter.
The recognition is a meaningful nod from the next generation of communicators, and that GMA Regional TV is deeply grateful for the trust and support of today's crop of communicators at Leyte Normal University.
The recipients --- Lou-Anne Mae Rondina, Alan Domingo, Nikko Sereno, and Cecille Quibod-Castro --- have expressed their gratitude to today's generation of communicators who have recognized their works in journalism that truly uphold excellence in storytelling, ethics, and impact.
By their approval, the students know which stories are insightful, innovative, and impactful; and which news producers have continued to uphold the highest standards in spite of mounting pressure and digital transformation challenges, on top of the already immense challenges in broadcast media.
“This Pagdasig Award is a reminder of the power and responsibility in telling real stories from real people, not to mention the challenges, the dangerous environments that we had to go through… this award inspires me to keep pushing boundaries; most importantly, keep listening,” Lou-Anne conveyed.
As for Alan, he said there is gratification in being tagged as Best Male News Anchor, but with the pleasure comes the enormous responsibility.
“I am beyond grateful and very much proud of this recognition… to be tagged as Best Male News Anchor of the PAGDASIG Awards 2025 is a huge responsibility… being a storyteller from the region bridging our stories across the country," Alan said.
“Atoang ipatigbabaw ang pagdala sa kamatuoran taliwala pa man sa mga fake news karon nga nikaylap sa atong katilingban. Dapat Totoo,” Alan added.
Nikko said that the accolade warms his heart.
“Nakakataba ng puso for honoring our work… nagpapasalamat kami sa inyong patuloy na suporta sa GMA Regional TV in everything that we do sa ating paghanap sa katotohanan sa lahat ng panahon,” Nikko said.
For Cecille, it is a delight to be chosen by future media practitioners.
“This recognition as Best TV Female News Anchor really means a lot to me, especially knowing that it comes from students like you who are very passionate, and very talented, and who are the future of the media industry in this country. I hope that I continue to be a voice that you can rely on, and inspiration, as well, as you carve out your own career path in journalism,” Cecille said.
