Several student athletes participating in the ongoing Davao Regional Athletic Association (DAVRAA) Meet 2024 in Davao City have contracted ailments. 

According to the Department of Education (DepEd) Davao City Schools Division, 30 athletes have colds and 29 have cough. Twenty-five others suffered from headache, 11 from abdominal pain and flu, and nine from toothache. One suffered from an injury while playing volleyball.

Several athletes also passed out due to the intense heat but they were given immediate medical attention.

The CHO assured that it is doing its best to attend to the needs of the athletes.

“Ang city health office wala nagpasagad, gihatag tanan best aron maserbisyohan ang mga delegado sa DAVRAA 2024. Naa mi medical team nga naka assign sa tanan plaing areas,” CHO said.

Meanwhile, an athlete has tested positive for dengue and was taken to the hospital for admission.

The City Health Office (CHO) is conducting case investigation and is looking into the student's travel history before experiencing fever.

The ongoing sporting event participated by the provinces in the region will end on April 7, 2024.
