Colegio de San Juan de Letran coach Oliver Almadro is one happy man seeing the Lady Knights start with winning ways in NCAA Season 99.

The Intramuros-based squad has an unblemished record, so far, with a 2-0 win-loss record with Almadro at the helm in his first season.

“Alam naman natin na there are laws of averages but sabi ko sa kanila we have to taper the expectations but results are not better than performance… They have to perform every single day, day in and day out, in practices and in games,” Almadro told GMA Regional TV News.

The Lady Knights were able to adjust to the new system in their preparations during the off-season, showing glimpse of their potential.

So far, they lost only a single set in their first two games against Arellano University and University of Perpetual Help System-DALTA.

“I thank my players because they responded very well sa preparation and sa challenge sa kanila. We really hope na hindi dito mag-stop,” Almadro said.

Letran was tested early on when they faced Perpetual, one of the strong contenders in Season 99.

“Masarap maging Letranista because of the culture of resiliency. Kung hindi resilient yung mga players, alam ko na matibay yung Perpetual, they will just succumb to it,” Almadro said during the post-match interview against Perpetual.

They came out victorious but were dragged down to the wire, 25-21, 25-20, 30-28, by a team full of firepower with the likes of Razel Aldea, Mary Rhose Dapol, and Shaila Omipon.

“Sabi ko lang, ask for it, hingin nila at ibibigay sa kanila, bola, depensa, and everything… They have to take it… minsan lang yung opportunity na dumating; they have to take the opportunity,” Almadro said.

With the end of the elimination rounds a long way to go, Almadro is impressed with how his team is facing the challenges.

“They have the faith in themselves, faith in their teammates, faith in the system, and of course, their faith in God that nothing is impossible,” he said.
