Olympians from the Philippines who did not end with a podium finish in the Paris Summer Games will still get at least P1 million. At least nine of them are from the regions.

Those from the regions include Vanessa Sarno (Bohol), Elreen Ann Ando (Cebu), and John Febuar Ceniza (Cebu) in weightlifting; Joanie Delgaco (Bicol) in rowing; Eumir Felix Marcial (Zamboanga City) and Carlo Paalam (Cagayan de Oro City) in boxing, among others.

Bronze medalists Aira Villegas (Tacloban City) and Nesthy Petecio (Davao del Sur) who displayed their mettle in boxing are earlier assured of P2 million each as mandated by the law.

President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. handed over the incentive to each of the Olympians during a welcome reception in Malacañang on August 13, 2024.

The President has also asked the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) to set aside another P1 million for each of the 22 athletes, bringing the total amount to P2 million per Olympian.
