Athletes from the Province of Iloilo have topped the medal haul in the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) Meet 2025 in the Province of Antique.

One of them is Franklin Catera of Tigbauan town, a high jump secondary boys division champ for three years. 

Catera broke his 1.8-meter record in 2024 by setting his new best at 1.9 meters in the finals of the WVRAA Meet 2025.

As of 1:30 p.m. on March 6, 2025, loilo has topped the medal board with 76 golds, followed by the Province of Negros Occidental with 69, and Province of Aklan on third spot with 20 gold medals in the Secondary level.

Negros Occidental leads in the Elementary level with 52 golds, Iloilo comes next with 42 gold medals, and the Province of Antique with eight gold medals.

Iloilo sustained its lead in the Paragames with 44 gold medals. Negros Occidental settled for second place with 17 golds, while Aklan comes third with five gold medals.

In the partial unofficial medal tally of WVRAA 2025, Iloilo Province clinched the top spot on the leaderboard with 162 gold medals.

Negros Occidental came close with 138 gold medals, and Aklan on third at 29 gold medals.

The Provinces of Antique and Capiz tied at 13 gold medals each, while Guimaras settled for last spot with seven gold medals.

Meanwhile, because of the high heat index, the medical team heightens its vigilance for any incident. 

“Sa lahat ng mga untoward incidents nakahanda ang ating medical partners, ang mga doctors and nurses mara ma-make sure ang safety gayundin ang health and well-being ng mga Kabataan,” DepEd 6 Spokesperson Hernani Escullar, Jr. said.
