The Region 1 Athletic Association (R1AA) Meet 2025 officially started on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, with thousands of athletes from different provinces and cities competing in various sports.
Among the featured events are basketball, sepak takraw, baseball, high jump, running events, and billiards.
Jasmine Jane Braganza, a billiards player of Pangasinan 1, admitted feeling nervous in her first competition.
“Medyo kinakabahan kasi first time ko po,” she said.
Floro Sayangda, the tournament manager, said the billiards event consists of two competitions: the 8-ball tournament, followed by the 9-ball tournament.
The following is the overall medal tally for elementary and secondary divisions in the 2025 R1AA Meet, based on partial and unofficial results as of March 12, 2025, at 3:45 PM:
- Ilocos Sur – 9 Gold, 5 Silver, 5 Bronze
- Urdaneta City – 9 Gold, 4 Silver, 2 Bronze
- Pangasinan I – 7 Gold, 10 Silver, 5 Bronze

According to Cesar Bucsit, 2025 R1AA Meet Spokesperson, the games are running smoothly so far.
“So far, so good. Sa ngayon, wala namang problema na nakararating sa atin. Pero tinitingnan natin na magiging smooth lahat ang nagaganap na kompetisyon,” Bucsit said.
Due to the extreme heat, outdoor games have been adjusted, with events scheduled only between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m.
Medical teams are also on standby to ensure the safety of athletes throughout the competition, which will run until Saturday, March 15.
