The Region 1 Athletic Association (R1AA) Meet 2025 is in its final days with athletes giving their all in various competitions, including chess, boxing, archery, and running events.
Because of the intense heat, health authorities are on standby to monitor athletes' conditions, especially in outdoor games.
“Pagkatapos ng laro nila eh, talagang mapapansin na pagod sila. Agad silang pinupuntahan ng medics po natin,” Cesar Bucsit, spokesperson of the 2025 R1AA Meet, said.

Laoag City’s success can be credited to the dedication of its athletes and coaches, according to its sports development officer, Hipolito Salva.
“Una kasi, ‘yung commitment ng mga bata. Saka ‘yung coaches. Right after noong local meet ng Laoag and inter-school, nag-start na rin kaming nag-training,” Salva said.
With only a few events left, the competition remains fierce as athletes push for more medals and a chance to represent the region in national competitions.
