Athletes from Talisay City Department of Education (DepEd) Division clinched five gold medals, four silver medals, and 12 bronze medals in the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) Meet 2025 in Bayawan City, Province of Negros Oriental that culminated on March 16, 2025.

The athletes gave their best not just in boxing, but in chess, taekwondo, and billiards as well.

Sharmin Parba reaped gold in billiards 9-ball and silver in billiards 8-ball in the secondary level.

Talisay DepEd Division snared silver medals in swimming events, two in boxing, while basketball - elementary boys won bronze; three bronze medals in taekwondo secondary girls, two in table tennis, and one in arnis combat.

According to Dr. Arden Monisit, Talisay City Schools Division Superintendent, strong support of parents, school administrators, and the local government unit have helped inspire the athletes to go for gold.

Mayor Gerald Anthony Gullas vowed to support further the athletes who will represent the Talisay City, the Province of Cebu, and the entire Central Visayas in the Palarong Pambansa in Laoag, Ilocos Norte.

The athletes will be honored in a ceremony during the 80th Takas sa Talisay commemoration by the last week of March 2025.
