Dagupan City’s top young athletes are in full training mode as they gear up for the Palarong Pambansa 2025 in Ilocos Norte.
Among them is Carys Esther Navalta, a nine-year-old gymnast — the youngest to represent the city. She will compete in artistic gymnastics.
“Gagawin ko lahat para manalo,” Carys said.
Her mother, Eileen Navalta, shared how proud they are of her dedication.
“Ini-encourage namin siya to give her best at i-enjoy ang laro niya,” she said.
Dagupan’s boxers are also ready to shine. After achieving a grandslam victory at the Region 1 Athletic Association (R1AA) Meet, six of them are heading to the national games, aiming to bring home another win.
“Ang laki ng chance, magkakaroon tayo ng future Philippine team [from] Dagupan City,” Coach Billy Jake Quinto said.
Athletes from other sports — including taekwondo, wrestling, chess, and basketball — are also part of the 20-member delegation.
They were formally presented during the city’s flag-raising ceremony and received full support from the local government.
“Ito na ang pinaghandaan niyo. Deserve niyo ito. At kahit papaano, do your best. Bawat galaw, dala-dala niyo ang pag-asa at kinabukasan ninyo,” Finnela Sim, Dagupan City Sports Development Officer IV, said.
The athletes will leave for Ilocos Norte at dawn on May 20.
The Palarong Pambansa will run from May 24 to May 31, 2025.
