Nearly 600 student-athletes from the Davao region are set to compete in the 2025 Palarong Pambansa in Laoag, Ilocos Norte from May 24 to 31, 2025.

The send-off ceremony for the 596 student-athletes from elementary, secondary, and para game, including 87 coaches, 21 assistant coaches, and 19 chaperones, has already been conducted.

These delegates comprise the “Davao Eagles,” who will compete with other regions in this year’s national sporting event.

The Department of Education-Davao (DepEd-11) is aiming to improve its previous ranking — fourth place — and target a higher position in this year’s games.

To ensure the athletes’ preparedness, a 15-day in-house training was held, capped by a send-off ceremony.

“Every time you wear this color, you carry with you honor, responsibility, and the high expectations that come with representing the Davao Region,” DepEd-11 Director, Allan Farnazo, said.

DepEd-11 also coordinated with local government units to help provide additional funds to ensure a comfortable and efficient trip for the delegates to Laoag City.

“Lubos ang aking paniniwala sa Davao Region at higit pa akong magpupunyagi, kasama ang ating mga Superintendent, dadalhin natin ang pinakamataas na parangal na karapatdapat sa Davao Region,” Farnazo added.

The Davao delegates are now in Ilocos Norte ahead of the opening ceremony on May 24.
