A young chess player from Puerto Princesa delivered MIMAROPA’s first gold medal in the Palarong Pambansa 2025 in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.
In a report by Wilmar Abrea on Super Radyo Palawan, Carmelo C. Yanong of F. Ubay Elementary School topped the blitz category in elementary boys chess, earning the region’s first gold in the national sports event.
Meanwhile, MIMAROPA also scored a win in the badminton singles (secondary level) elimination round.
Kent Renzo Subito of San Miguel National High School defeated his opponent from Davao.
