Cebu FC is through to the ASEAN Club Championship group stage after dominating Kasuka FC of Brunei, 3-0, in the second leg of the qualifying playoff match evening on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Esrom Paulos opened the scoring for Cebu FC when he found the back of the net in the 21st minute.
Six minutes later, Rico Andes, a native of Sorsogon, redeemed himself after missing two big chances earlier in the game with a strike that went through Kasuka goalkeeper’s legs to clinch Cebu’s second goal of the match.
In the second half, Andes recorded his brace in the 78th minute with a header from Paulos’ corner set piece.
Cebu’s backline together with former San Beda University goalkeeper Jessie Semblante between the sticks remained solid to keep the clean sheet.
With an aggregate score of 4-2, The Gentle Giants clinched their way to the group stages of the competition.
They are now set to face Buriram United and BG Pathum of Thailand, Selangor FC of Malaysia, Cong An Ha Noi of Vietnam, and Tampines Rovers of Singapore in Group A.
