The Batang Pinoy Games in General Santos City will proceed as scheduled despite the strong tremors experienced in the city following the magnitude 7.4 earthquake that struck off Manay, Davao Oriental on Friday, October 10, 2025.

Athletes, parents, and other delegates expressed concerns after the city experienced Intensity IV during the quake.

However, the Sports and Games Development Office confirmed that the event will push through as no damage was reported in any of the facilities to be used for the athletic games.

“Wala may advice atung Office of Building Officials na may damage na facility nga gamitun para sa Batang Pinoy. Atung Friday, naa diri si Chairman Pato Gregorio, nag-inspect pud sa mga venue according to him tuloy ang Batang Pinoy,” Sporst and Games Development Office Chief, Lady Manalo. said.

To ensure the safety during the activity, the Incident Management Team will be activated once delegates start arriving on October 18, 2025.

“We will be activating the Emergency Operations Center as the main coordination hub for the Batang Pinoy , and then of course activating the Incident Management Team as well,” City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) Head, Dr. Bong Dacera, said.

More than 21,000 athletes from 191 participating local government units across the country are expected to participate in the Batang Pinoy Games, which will run from October 25 to 31.

Athletes will compete in 27 different sports events.
