For the first time, an Ilongga will represent the Philippines in track cycling in the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.
Angela Joy Marie Bermejo, fondly called “Dayday,” 21 years old, is the first Ilongga to represent the Philippines in track cycling in the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand.
Bermejo will be in Thailand on December 15, 2025 for the games on December 18.
In an interview with GMA Super Radyo Iloilo, Bermejo said that she used to compete in taekwondo but shifted her interest to cycling during the pandemic.
She clinched silver medal in the National Road Championship 2024 for time trial under-23 category, and 4th place in the criterium and road race.
She was recruited into the Standard Insurance Philippine Women’s Continental Team after her potential got spotted.
She went to compete in Kazakhstan, Vietnam, and Thailand.
