More than a hundred cyclists joined a 50-kilometer “Bisikleta Iglesia” ride across parts of Camarines Sur on Saturday, April 4, 2026, to raise funds for persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) while marking the Holy Week tradition.

A total of 126 registered participants from across Bicol took part in the sixth year of the event, which covered the route Naga–Milaor–Minalabac–Pili and included stops at seven churches as part of Visita Iglesia.

The ride started at 5:30 a.m. and ended at 10:30 a.m., organizers said.

JCINSP. Ralph Vincent Bobis, acting district jail warden of the Naga City Male Dorm, said proceeds from the activity will support PDLs at the Naga District Jail.

“Ang mga proceeds po nito ng ating registration ay mapupunta sa benefit po ng ating mga persons deprived of liberty sa Naga District Jail,” Bobis said.

He added that a member of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) personnel who won a bicycle in a raffle during the event donated the prize to a relative of a PDL.

“Muli po, nagpasasalamat po kami sa mga sponsors ng aming activity,” he said.

Participants described the ride as orderly and meaningful. SJO1 Ruth M. Castor said it was her first time joining the event and praised its organization.

“It was a nice experience… Ini ang pinakadisiplinang na nasalihan mi,” she said.

Organizers said the annual activity aims to deepen faith while raising support for jail programs, especially during the Lenten season.
