The newly renovated track and field facility at Teacher’s Camp in Baguio City formally opened as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s sports development program.

According to the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), the facility’s tartan track had not been replaced for many years, prompting the need for repairs and additional equipment.

The PSC said the site will also serve as a regional training center for boxing, football, and archery.

Officials also plan to add more gym equipment and improve other parts of the former Gintong Alay training center, which was widely used by athletes in the 1980s.

Meanwhile, the PSC announced that national team players will now be allowed to compete in the Palarong Pambansa to help expand their training and raise the level of competition among young athletes.

The agency said the improvements aim to provide better facilities for athletes and strengthen sports programs in the regions.
