At a time when social media and artificial intelligence dominate information sharing, the challenge of identifying fake news has become more serious than ever. This issue took center stage at the Daluyon Media Summit in Dagupan City, led by communication students from a local university.

The event highlighted the importance of responsible journalism, especially with the upcoming 2025 midterm elections.

Students emphasized the media's role in informing the public about real events happening in their communities.

"Mahalaga ang role ng media dahil sila ang daan para malaman ng publiko kung ano ang totoong nangyayari sa komunidad," Bianca Sindayen, one of the student participants, said.

Another student, Cedrick Cayabyab, stressed the need for truthful reporting to prevent misunderstandings.

"Dapat totoo ang pagbabalita para maiwasan ang pagkalat ng fake news at maiwasan ang pagkakaroon ng hindi pagkakaunawaan," he said.

The summit also included an open forum where young participants actively shared their views.

Organizers believe raising awareness about truthful and responsible reporting is essential, especially for the youth.
