A group of students in Cebu was adjudged grand winner in the 2025 Korean Film Festival.

The group of students from Cebu Normal University (CNU) was picked grand winner for their short film entry, "Seoul Sight."

The group of Bethy Mae Aldave, film media student, was adjudged grand winner in the “Reel Connections: Student Short Film Competition.”

Aldave, a 21-year-old third-year student in Bachelor of Arts in Communication major in Film Media, is the director of the short film.

Aldave said that the center of the short film are siblings Emily and Ethan. Emily’s health is declining, she said. While Emily displays a fascination for South Korea and a plan to visit the country in the future, her brother Ethan knows her health would compromise the rest of her dreams.

However, Ethan, the loving brother that he is, does not want to disappoint Emily. He brings her instead to places in Cebu that have strong semblance of Korea.

The experience further forged and sealed trust and deep filial love between siblings.

Kephere Clint Gaco portrayed the role of Ethan.

“Playing the role of Ethan, na-feel nako nga na-bring nako into a higher version akong self,” Gaco said.

Aside from the beauty of the film's story, it is best noted for its cinematography as well through the creative works of Donn Miguel Gicale, 20 years old, from Talisay City, Cebu.

Gaco said he rejoices at the feat, but thinks he could have done more with the crew's talents and skills that abound, had it not been for time constraint which was the main challenge, stemming  from insufficient resources to support other needs in shooting the film.

Aldave has shared the accolade with the eight crew members of Tropa Lang Productions, or TPL, who are all third-year students in Film Media, deemed a “garbo” (pride) not just to the CNU family, but to the entire Sugbo (Cebu) as well.
