High school students from public and private schools gathered in Calasiao, Pangasinan to talk about online safety as part of the Safer Internet Day celebration.
The Calasiao Social Welfare and Development Office led the discussion and urged young people to help build a safer digital space.
Officials discussed cybersecurity, digital self-care, and the risks that young people face online. They said cooperation among students, parents, and the community is key to protecting the youth in the digital world.
“Nagkaroon tayo ng programa dito sa LGU Calasiao na kung saan ang ini-involve natin ay iyong mga kabataan, kasi alam naman natin na sila talaga ang engrossed sa pag-gamit ng social media,”Editha Gorospe, MSWD officer of Calasiao, said.
Students who joined the forum said the activity helped them better understand how to stay safe online.
“Learning a safer way to navigate the internet is such a wonderful experience and I think I would share it to all of the youth,” Carlos Antonio, a student, said.
Organizers said they will continue to hold similar programs to raise awareness about responsible and safe internet use among young people.
