The Urdaneta City Fire Station opened its doors to young learners as part of Fire Prevention Month, giving children a hands-on look at firefighting and teaching them basic safety awareness.
Day care learners were invited to join the open house, where they experienced what it is like to be a firefighter and learned the role of fire responders in the community.
The children were allowed to try activities such as rappelling, basic firefighting, and other drills under the guidance of personnel.
Organizers said the activity aims to build awareness and responsibility among children during emergencies.
“Isinasagawa po natin ang open house para po maimbitahan ang mga bata para ma-experience nila ‘yung buhay ng bumbero. At para magkaroon sila ng sense of responsibility in times of disaster kung ano ‘yung puwede nilang gawin,” Fire Chief Inspector Angelica Blanch Tactay, city fire marshal, said.
The children were seen enjoying the activities and went home with smiles, along with new knowledge about fire safety.
