Carl Vincent Malinao, a Summa Cum Laude Electronics Engineering graduate of Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan, emerged as the solo topnotcher in the March 2026 Electronics Engineering Licensure Examination (EELE).
The proud Xavier U homegrown posted a 93.80% exam rating.
Carl also ranked third overall in the Electronics Technicians Licensure Exam (ETLE).
A proud homegrown, Carl spent most of his education in Xavier University in Cagayan de Oro, starting in 2014 as a grade schooler.
In his junior high years, he won multiple math competitions at the division level, had podium finishes at the regionals. He was also an Area Stage Qualifier during the 21st Philippine Mathematical Olympiad (PMO) in 2018.
Aside from earning his BS Electronics Engineering degree with a near-perfect GPA of 3.859, Carl won the Gold Warrior Project Award for having the Best Final Year project from the EE Department, and was a candidate for the College of Engineering’s Outstanding Graduate award.
He also headed various academic organizations and programs in his undergraduate years, making for a well-rounded college stint.
Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan has extended its congratulations to its topnotcher.
In a Facebook post, the school said this is a “proud moment for the entire Xavier Ateneo community.”
Carl is the only Xavier University alumnus in the Top 10 of the March 2026 EELE.
Ranking second was Kenneth John Cayaga of Pamantasan ng Cabuyao (93.70%), while UP Diliman’s Joselito Ramento Jr. and Mapúa University’s Adrian Neville Soquita were tied at third (93.50%).
Technological University of the Philippines (TUP) - Visayas product Lexther Romel KImpo placed fourth overall (93.40%), while Ateneo de Naga University’s Emanuel Nieva rounded out the top five (93.30%).
Eight in the 15 topnotchers are from schools based in the regions. Three are from UP Diliman, three from Mapúa, and two from TUP Visayas.
