RJ Padilla on ‘Basement’: “Intense ‘yun!”

RJ Padilla is one of the freshest faces on television nowadays. Viewers first caught a glimpse of him in With A Smile, and then he went on to tickle our funny bones in Bubble Gang. Now the dashing dapper will also be appearing on the big screen via the upcoming horror film, Basement.

During the blog conference for the said film, RJ candidly talked about his character.“Isa ako sa mga bagets dito na naliligaw ng landas. In short, ‘yung mga tumitikim ng droga. Kaya rin kami nandito sa 'Basement' kasi ito ‘yung napili namin na spot kung saan kami puwede maka-amats,” he said.

He continued, “Akala namin, sobrang lakas ng amats namin noon kaya pinag-usapan naming ‘yung mga multo-multo. Hindi naming akalain na ‘yun na, meron na pala kaming kasama sa basement.”

Playing RJ’s barkada members in Basement are Kambal Sirena lead actress Louise de los Reyes, Paraiso Ko’y Ikaw lead actor Kristoffer Martin and Walang Tulugan regular Teejay Marquez.

Also among the ensemble cast are Chynna Ortaleza, Mona Louise Rey, Dion Ignacio, Sarah Lahbati, Kevin Santos, Betong Sumaya and Ellen Adarna.

Who among his co-stars did RJ get to bond with the most during the filming of Basement?

“Si Kuya Betong [Sumaya]. Una ko siyang nakita, alam ko na siya ‘yung nanalo sa Survivor. Sabi ko, masubukan nga itong taong ito. Aba, napakabait! Ang gusto ko sa kanya ay ‘yung pakikisama niya at pagiging komedyante niya. Para ko na siyang tito,” he stated.

What sets Basement apart from the usual horror films that people get to see?

RJ replied, “Maraming artistang nandito, so bawat character malilibang ka na. May mga adik katulad namin, may nanay na manganganak at marami pang iba. ‘Di ba nakakaintriga?”

He continued, “Isa pa, mapapaisip ka kung paano sila papatayin at bakit? Intense ‘yun! Sa dami namin, paano niya uubusin ‘yun?”
