“A lot of people, mas kilala nila ako as a dancer, so big leap siya para sakin." - Julian Trono

GMA Artist Center teen idol Julian Trono is set to visit Korea today and will have a guest spot in MBC’s live musical variety program Show Champion.

The Kapuso teen star was handpicked by JU Entertainment Music & Contents Inc., a Philippine company which adopts the K-Pop system. Jin-Eog Kim, a co-CEO of the company with Alfredo delos Santos, found Julian's promising talent as a singer when he saw his performances on TV. Jin-Eog Kim’s expertise includes scouting, developing talent and artist management and has produced famous artists including "SeoTaiji and boys".

Julian feels excited as he goes through the different executions of the production. For the past two months, he has been training with the Korean team, who helps him develop his singing skills, and adopt the Korean Pop (K-Pop) style of dancing.

Behind him is a team which includes songwriter Jack Kim (Kim Heon-Jik), who composed famous artists’ songs and soundtracks for drama programs, movies, and numerous commercials. In 2005, Jack received the Jade Solid Gold Best Ten Music Awards for the best composer in China and Hong Kong.

Rapping alongside the Kapuso artist is ONE, a member of the crossover hip-hop team ‘T.L CROW’. He has performed as an underground artist and established his reputation in New York as a rapper in 2003 when he won Joe Jackson Hip-Hop Boot Camp, a rapping battle founded by Michael Jackson’s father Joe Jackson. ONE was the 1st Asian winner in the history of the competition and started to work with many artists in the United States and Korea since then.

Last January 29, ONE visited the Philippines to work with Julian in the music video which is under the helm of Albert Langitan, respected drama and reality shows director of GMA Network.

Hwang Young-Chul will be taking the official stills for the project. He has photographed over 60 Korean drama and movie posters, and is known as the best photographer for profile pictures of Korean top celebrities. He also held many photo exhibitions in Korea and Japan wherein he received the ‘Korea Culture Entertainment Award for Hallyu (Korean Wave) Star Photographer’ in 2011.

Completing the dream team is GMA Records who is closely involved with the process and will distribute Julian Trono’s upcoming single "Wiki Me" worldwide.

Feeling inspired by the team that supports him, Julian continues to work hard for the project and is still training as he goes through the process of recording and taping music videos.

“A lot of people, mas kilala nila ako as a dancer, so big leap siya para sakin. And for the past couple of months I’ve been under serious training,” admits the Kapuso star.

He also feels proud because he has also been contributing his ideas in making the entire record. From how the beat of the single goes, to how the music video looks like.

However, Julian can’t help but incline to the choreographer in him. “Actually sabi ko nga, gusto kong ako na lang ang mag-choreograph. But then again sabi kasi nila gusto nila ng Korean touch. Pero ang ganda ng experience na ‘to, kasi kumbaga yung mga ideas ko, nagma-materialize into something big like this.”

He claims that he’s excited to meet Korean artists, and to represent the Philippines in a country where pop music is very alive.
